I went to cleethorpes at week end and was travelling down the m180 it turn into a dual carriage way with two lanes and the national speed limit sign is the speed limit 60 or 70 mph? Confused.com It is 70mph on both dual carriageways and motorways - unless otherwise stated by road signs. Remember, unless you want to split hairs, all motorways are a type of dual carriageway. So the speed limit for cars on a dual carriageway is 70mph, whether it's a motorway or not. And the police do patrol it, but they generally don't stop people doing less than 80. My husband was driving in slushy snow when he came up over a hill with little sight distance (maybe 10 ft) when he saw a car backing up because he couldn't make it up the hill. The country road is not a full 2 lanes, maybe equivalent to 1 1/2. The other car was in the middle of the road and stopped and put on his flashers when he saw my car coming. My husband attempted to avoid the car, but couldn't. The other guys insurance co. is putting us 100% at fault. It seems to me the person at fault is the person whose negligence caused the accident (like being stuck in the middle of the road.) Daihatsu . How to Replace a CV Joint in a 1995 Mazda 626The CV axle on a 1995 Mazda 626 transfers the engine horsepower from the transaxle to the front wheels. Each CV axle contains two CV joints--one at each end. The CV joint acts much like a human wrist as it allows the axle to swing as it turns when the wheel are turned in either direction. The inner CV joint slides in or out, allowing the CV axle to stretch as the steering is turned. Difficulty:Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Floor jack Jack stand 3/8-inch drive ratchet Set of 3/8-inch drive sockets Set of wrenches ½-inch drive ratchet Set of ½-inch drive sockets Large common screwdriver-type pry bar Tie rod separator tool Hammer Step by Step : 1 Raise the side of the car to be worked on and support it under the frame with a jack stand. Remove the wheel, using a ½-inch drive socket. Remove the large CV axle nut in the center of the hub, using the appropriate ½-inch drive socket. 2 Remove the bolt securing the lower control arm to the hub, using a 3/8-inch drive socket. Insert the tie rod separator tool between the hub and the lower control arm ball joint. Strike the tool with a hammer until the two separate. 3 Lift the hub up and clear of the lower ball joint stud. Use your thumb to push the CV joint shaft out of the hub. Move the hub toward the rear of the fenderwell away from the CV axle. 4 Pry the CV axle out of the transaxle by inserting the blade of a pry bar between the CV axle and the transaxle, and with a quick pull on the bar, the axle will pop out of the transaxle. 5 Insert the new CV axle into the transaxle as far as it will go. It will stop about halfway in, due to the circlip on the shaft that enters the transaxle. Pull the axle back about ½ inch then slam it in. The circlip will enter the transaxle. The circlip holds the axle so it will not come out. 6 Pull the hub back and away from the car enough to insert the axle shaft into the hub from behind. Push in on the hub while holding the CV axle with the other hand. Push the shaft all the way through the hub. 7 Lift the hub and place it over the lower ball joint stud. Insert the ball joint stud into the hub, insert the ball joint bolt and tighten it with a 3/8-inch drive socket. Install the large CV axle shaft nut and tighten it with the appropriate ½-inch drive socket. Install the front wheel.
Daihatsu . How to Change a CV Joint in a NissanThe CV joint on a Nissan is part of the drive shaft, which transmits the engine's power to the front wheels. The CV joint functions as a fully articulated connection, much like a person's wrist. It allows constant power even when the wheels are moved as in the act of steering the vehicle. If the problem with the CV joint is simply a ripped rubber boot covering the CV joint, there is not a monetary advantage to having the boot replaced. The work required to separate the joint and install a boot would cost more than a rebuilt shaft from the auto parts store. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Floor jack Jack stands 3/8-inch drive ratchet Set of 3/8-inch drive sockets Lug wrench Long pry bar ½-inch drive breaker bar 38mm socket Tie rod separator Hammer Set of wrenches Step by Step : 1 Raise the front of the vehicle with the floor jack and place the jack stands under the frame for support. Remove the wheel, using the lug wrench. Remove the large 38mm nut securing the drive shaft to the spindle, using the breaker bar. 2 Remove the nut on the lower ball joint stud, using a wrench. Insert the tie rod separator tool between the spindle and the lower control arm, then strike the tool with the hammer until the two separate. Lift up the spindle to separate the lower ball joint stud from the spindle. Move the spindle toward the rear of the vehicle. 3 Push in the CV joint shaft to separate it from the spindle. If it does not want to come out of the spindle easily, install the large nut upside down on the shaft and tap gently to start it sliding out of the spindle. Lay the CV joint shaft on the lower control arm once separated. 4 Insert the large pry bar between the inner CV joint and the transmission. Pry the joint out of the transmission. 5 Insert the new CV joint into the transmission. The joint has a circlip on the end, so the shaft will only go in as far as the circlip before stopping. Grab the outer CV joint threaded shaft with both hands and give a quick push on the shaft--it will snap into the transmission. 6 Insert the outer CV joint threaded shaft into the spindle. Rotate the rotor slightly while inserting the shaft to align the splines. Once the shaft starts to slide into the spindle, if it does not pass through enough to install the large 38mm nut, grab the rotor on the spindle with both hands and slam it inward. 7 Screw the large nut on the CV shaft loosely. Lift the spindle and place it on top of the lower ball joint. Allow the lower ball joint stud to slide into the hole in the spindle. Install the nut on the lower ball joint stud and tighten with a wrench. 8 Tighten the large 38mm nut with the breaker bar until the CV joint is drawn completely into the spindle. Install the wheel and lower the vehicle.
